How does a rattlesnake rattle?
The end of a rattlesnakes tail is made up several pieces, or segments, of dry, horny material. When the snake shakes its tail, these segments make a rattling noise.
The rattlesnake uses its rattle to warn other animals to stay away from it. But the snake cannot hear the rattle because all snakes are deaf!
